So, after I was reminiscing through photos of past clients, I’ve decided to do this again. About 5 years ago, I had a similar contest and was amazed by the stories that I received. I have decided to do another give away to a deserving couple. So here’s the deal- email me the story of a couple who really deserves free photography for their wedding. If that person is you, then send in your own story! You MUST attach a photo to the email. Send the email to: INFO@alisalynn.com and in the subject please note Wedding Photography Giveaway. Here’s some examples of what I will be looking for-A couple who has a wonderful or unique story or who has overcome great odds. A couple who is truly giving of themselves to others or any couple that stands out. The couple must be getting married somewhere in the US in 2011. If I am already booked for the date, I’m sorry, there is only one of me, so I can only shoot one wedding per day =). The couple must be willing to appear on the blog and have their story on the blog. The winner will receive: -6 hours wedding day coverage -an online gallery, DVD of hi-res images with print release and a $250 print credit.
Please send entries NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 1, 2010 -The top three entries will be posted on the blog. The winner will be chosen by me and a group of judges and will be announced on December 19, 2010 (also my birthday plus it should be a happy little Christmas surprise for the winner) So, spread the word, tell everyone you know, email this link out or nominate a deserving friend. I can’t wait to read all of the entries! Good luck!

I have always loved photographing high school seniors. They are super fun and are always up for something different. The only thing that is hard for me is that “senior season” usually overlaps with “wedding season”. In that I mean that most seniors want their photos done in the summer before their senior year and for wedding photographers, our busiest time is.. you guessed it summer. This year, I really wanted to dive more into the senior market.. (no pun intended with the photo below.. or maybe it was) When Bella asked me about photographing some senior photos, I am sure the smile on my face probably answered her before the words actually came out of my mouth. I have known her since she was 13 and she has kept our kids, been a key component of our church youth group and overall is just a talented, gorgeous, fun person. She is not afraid to make her own path and be happy doing it. So, when I mentioned some underwater photos for round one of the senior session, she was more than up for trying it. I will say that this is way harder than I ever could have imagined but oh. my. gosh. we had a blast. We laughed as much or more as we shot. Here are a few things that we learned from this session-
1. You really have to be super creative to stay underwater. The best trick for holding me down so that I could photograph = my studio partner standing on top of me to hold me under. Don’t worry, we discussed any issues of anger or unforgivingness before I asked her to hold me down.
2. Holding down the photographer with a pool brush is not so effective and quite awkward. Picture yourself being speared like a fish..
3. Communication underwater= very interesting
4. If you lay on the bottom of the pool on your back, it looks like the ultimate FAIL and looks as if you killed your subject. Future reference= skip that pose.
5. Your photographer wearing blue, tinted goggles and a pink nose clip with non-waterproof mascara= scary!
6. Having a beautiful model who can hold her breath, smile, keep her dress from floating up, look at the camera and look amazing= success!
Can’t wait for round 2! Here is one of my favorites from this session!

I can’t believe how fast time goes by. This week my sweet baby turned 6! I can’t believe she is six and I can hardly believe she is amazingly ours! Although in so many ways it seems she should still be a tiny little bean, it also seems like she has always been a part of our family. If I had to describe her, it would be to say that she is so spontaneous, fearless, happy-go-lucky, animated and definitely talkative. She is definitely our wild card! You never know what she is going to do or say! However, you do know that she will forever be saying something. She is a non-stop talker. In fact, even if she is talking to herself, she’s still talking! I wouldn’t have her any other way =) Happy Birthday A!!

Oh and she is a cutie too! Not that I am partial or anything =)

I love seeing wedding colors come together! Do you ever wonder what combinations would look amazing? Do you want to try something different but don’t know how it might look? Well, look what I found! For those of you planning a wedding, there are some gorgeous color palettes that might be just want you are looking for. Happy planning!
Since most of my clients are brides, I have decided to incorporate a new section of the blog called “All Things Wedding.” I know so much time and effort is spent planning a wedding. These posts will include everything from wedding etiquette, the most popular wedding questions and answers, wedding planning tips, wedding related items that I love, and even little tidbits of advice from happily married couples. If it helps any of my loyal blog readers, then it will definitely be worth the effort. Plus, it gives me a chance to share even more information on one of the favorite parts of my job- weddings!
Here’s a peek at some of my favorite wedding finds from today!
1. The hairpiece. I love when brides wear flowers or feathers in their hair, so naturally this caught my eye. I found this one on Etsy. I find so many things there that I LOVE! The designers and artists are amazingly talented and they are extremely affordable. Click here to see this designers gallery.

2. Love this wedding favor! This wedding favor is not only adorable, it is also a way to share something with your guests that they can continue to enjoy. They can plant the seeds and continue to remember your wedding each time they see their growing flowers. Well, that is, if they have better luck with plants that I do =/ Here’s the link for this and more blooming options.

More to share tomorrow!

I think Emma is the cutest little girl! I love her auburn hair and have always wished mine was this color! I love it! Emma turned two this month so of course, she had to have pictures made! Her mom wanted some photos in the studio with her age block and some balloons to carry on the tradition of her older siblings. Thankfully, mom already had these and brought them along for the session. This was my first time to meet and photograph Emma. At first she was a little camera shy but after a few minutes of ME crawling on the floor like a two year old and us playing and letting her take a few photos with my camera, she warmed right up. I think we got some super cute ones and captured her sweet and oh so cute personality. Happy Birthday Emma!

Gotta love balloons and cake.. who doesn't love this combo?

This one resulted from me saying "I'm gonna come and tickle you." I think she was ready to come and get me instead. Super cute!

Outside photos are always my favorite. I think Emma liked this a bunch too. She was smiles the entire time!

This little area is one of my favorite spots next to the studio.

Giggles are great!

This was in my top 3 favorites from the day. Her little stance and expression is so stinkin' cute!

Still working on holding up the 2 fingers. She had holding up 1 mastered. Two fingers are a little harder. I thought this was so cute. I have no doubt she will have it figured out in no time

I am currently editing Melissa and Adam’s wedding images. Melissa is amazingly beautiful. As I was loading the images, this one popped up and I think my heart skipped a beat! I can hardly wait to edit all of them but had to share this one!
