BIG Announcement time!!

Welcome 2012! 2011 definitely went by like a flash and 2012 has a lot to live up to! I have some very big announcements and big changes for 2012 and I couldn’t be more excited! Soooo, What is it???

Alisa Lynn Photography and Jessi D Photography have combined our talents to form a new brand of Southern wedding photography with High Cotton Photography.

What does this mean? Well, it depends on who you are.

If you are one of my amazing 2012 brides… you’ve got great timing! This new partnership means that you will not only have me shooting your wedding, but Jessica too! *unless your wedding is on a date that she had previously booked. It also means that you will see our transition as I start blogging and updating Facebook under our new brand. For all of my ALP past clients, it means that online proofing will still be up at least throughout the end of this year as I finish up previous bookings. All new weddings will be posted and proofed on the High Cotton Site.

If you are engaged and looking for a wedding photographer… don’t wait any longer. Contact us now as our 2012 calendar is booking quickly.

Celebrating Christmas and The New Year!

It’s Published!!! Southern Living Weddings Magazine!

To say that I was excited to receive an email from Southern Living Weddings Magazine is a little bit of an understatement! In the south, most people could sum it up to ” I was tickled pink.” Well, I guess you could say for my personal feelings, it was that expression times 10! I was probably more of a bright red or “hot pink” color. I’ve known for the past couple of months that Hayley and Charlie’s wedding had been picked to be featured in the Real Weddings section of the magazine and I have been waiting anxiously for the preview. I knew what images I had sent them, but I didn’t know what they had picked or how the layout was put together. Last week, I received an email from the editor with all of the details of the upcoming print release and a photo of the cover. She said that my copy of the magazine was on its way to my P. O. Box. Well, it arrived on Friday! This edition has a ton of ideas, information and photos of real weddings, cakes, details and things that you should consider when planning a wedding. If you are in the midst of planning or if you just like to look, make sure you grab a copy today! I’ve included a photo of the magazine cover below so you will know how to spot it on the shelf! Hayley and Charlie’s wedding is featured on pages 48-51. Be sure to check it out!

Yes, I am still here! It is extremely busy around here and I haven’t got around to adding new photos to the blog. However, I did want to share a quick favorite of this gorgeous couple! I had lots of fun spending time with Whitney and T.G.!

The statement “yes, she is 14″ can have completely different meanings depending on the person that I am speaking to. For us and for those who haven’t seen her in a while, it seems like she definitely should not be 14 yet. She definitely has grown up in the blink of an eye. For others that do not know her, that same statement usually comes to verify that she is 14. Most people see her and assume she is not just having her 14th birthday but is at least a couple of years older. I on the other hand, I am secretly wishing she still looked like a little girl. We are learning all about teenagers around our house. While it is mostly good and fun, I will admit that I am not quite ready for all of the things that being a teenager brings to the table. I am learning to let go a little and grant a little independence but wow, that is so stinkin’ hard! It makes it a little easier that she is a smart girl who seemingly overnight has become a hilarious, beautiful and fun loving person. She is also a fully socialized teenager. Who knew teenagers had so many phone calls to make?
Madison’s birthday was last week and one of her “birthday wishes” was a photo session. She is definitely proving she is one of my own She loves taking pictures. You would think that scheduling a photo session shouldn’t be too hard when your mom is a photographer, but it actually is sometimes hard to find time to dedicate a complete session to my girls. So, for some long overdue pictures and in honor of her birthday, we spent a little time yesterday running though some fields not far from our house and using some of the areas close to the studio. Here are a few of my favorites and some photos for a birthday wish granted =) Happy Birthday Madison!

Wedding Photography Giveaway!

So, after I was reminiscing through photos of past clients, I’ve decided to do this again. About 5 years ago, I had a similar contest and was amazed by the stories that I received. I have decided to do another give away to a deserving couple. So here’s the deal- email me the story of a couple who really deserves free photography for their wedding. If that person is you, then send in your own story! You MUST attach a photo to the email. Send the email to: INFO@alisalynn.com and in the subject please note Wedding Photography Giveaway. Here’s some examples of what I will be looking for-A couple who has a wonderful or unique story or who has overcome great odds. A couple who is truly giving of themselves to others or any couple that stands out for a specific reason. The couple must be getting married somewhere in the US in 2012. If I am already booked for the date, I’m sorry, there is only one of me, so I can only shoot one wedding per day =). The couple must be willing to appear on the blog and have their story on the blog. The winner will receive: -6 hours wedding day coverage -an online gallery, DVD of hi-res images with print release and a $250 print credit.

Please send entries NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 1, 2011 -The top three entries will be posted on the blog. The winner will be chosen by me and a group of judges and will be announced on December 19, 2011 (also my birthday plus it should be a happy little Christmas surprise for the winner) So, spread the word, tell everyone you know, email this link out or nominate a deserving friend. Wow! She’s already 6!

I can’t believe how fast time goes by. This week my sweet baby turned 6! I can’t believe she is six and I can hardly believe she is amazingly ours! Although in so many ways it seems she should still be a tiny little bean, it also seems like she has always been a part of our family. If I had to describe her, it would be to say that she is so spontaneous, fearless, happy-go-lucky, animated and definitely talkative. She is definitely our wild card! You never know what she is going to do or say! However, you do know that she will forever be saying something. She is a non-stop talker. In fact, even if she is talking to herself, she’s still talking! I wouldn’t have her any other way =) Happy Birthday A!!

Oh and she is a cutie too! Not that I am partial or anything =)

A look inside our studio

Ever wonder what our office looks like or what you can expect when you are planning a meeting at our studio? Well, just in case, here are a few pictures of our downstairs meeting area. We like to show off our canvases and our albums, so rest assured there is a lot to see when you visit. To make sure our clients receive our full attention without any distractions, we meet by appointment only. If you are interested in seeing more of our work in print or for booking a wedding or portrait session, please contact us! We love new faces and are quite partial to our current ones as well!

When you walk in, this is the first area.

This is our main meeting area and gallery. This is where we like to sit and learn all about our clients. When you come, you are welcome to pick up albums, ask questions, or just have a seat and talk. I will admit, we are talkers =) Most wedding consultations last around an hour or so and occasionally a little longer. So, when you come in, feel free to share how you met, maybe some fun stories in between and what you envision for your wedding
